What does the PNB online course include?
Access to the Oceanautic Virtual Classroom until the exam date, which includes all subjects, animations, timed virtual exams, explanatory videos, voice-overs, graphics, self-monitoring of progress, learning percentage, simple and intuitive navigation, as well as online tutoring with the student.
After the three-month course period, you can extend it monthly if you wish.
Mandatory Practical Training
To obtain your qualification, in addition to passing the corresponding exam, you must complete mandatory practical training at an approved nautical school.

The PNB – Basic Navigation Skipper license qualifies you to operate recreational motor vessels up to 8 meters in length and for coastal navigation up to a maximum distance of 5 miles from the coast.
It also qualifies you to operate personal watercraft of any displacement.
To obtain the PNB license, you must be at least 16 years old at the time of taking the theoretical test, with written authorization from parents or guardians.
To take the course for obtaining the Basic Navigation Skipper License, no prior qualification is necessary.
However, before applying for the PNB license, you must prove completion of the basic safety and navigation practical training, which lasts 8 hours. At Oceanautic, we offer you the possibility of completing the full PNB Pack, which includes theory and mandatory practical training.
The requirements to take the PNB license course are as follows:
- Pass the theoretical exam.
- Complete the 8-hour basic safety and navigation practical training.
- Complete the 4-hour radiocommunications practical training.
- Accredit psychophysical recognition, issued by a Medical Center in accordance with Article 21 of RD 875/2014.
The exam to obtain the Basic Navigation Skipper license will have a maximum duration of 45 minutes. It will consist of 27 questions with a maximum number of disqualifying errors.
