This course includes theory and practice, addressing topics such as coastal and offshore navigation theory and calculation, meteorology, and safety at sea. Upon completing the course and passing the corresponding exams, the holder is authorized to handle vessels up to 24 meters in length and navigate at a maximum distance of 150 miles from the coast.

The course includes a theoretical part and a practical part. In the theoretical part, topics such as navigation, safety, meteorology, legislation, and radiocommunications are covered. The mandatory practicals consist of navigation and safety training.
Requirements

– Pass the theoretical exam
– An official exam covering topics such as navigation, safety, and meteorology must be passed
– Completion of 48 hours of safety and navigation practicals.
– Must be 18 years of age at the time of the license issuance request.
– Medical certificate. A driver’s medical certificate must be submitted, specifying its purpose, certifying physical fitness for navigation.
Course Development
Theory
The student will have full access to an e-learning platform where they will find all course materials, from notes and slides used in classes to self-assessment questionnaires for each study module to track progress in subject knowledge.
Classes are conducted in a telepresence mode, where each student can interact with the instructor and the rest of the class through a virtual classroom system with audio and video access.
These classes are recorded and available to students within the e-learning platform for viewing at any time.
Practicals
Mandatory safety and navigation practicals, consisting of 48 hours of navigation where a large part of the knowledge obtained in theoretical classes is developed ‘in situ’, as well as the use of electronic instruments and performing navigation watches.
These practicals will be carried out aboard a Lagoon 38 catamaran, 11.55m in length with 4 cabins, making the practice even more comfortable.
Night navigation will be performed, organizing watch shifts, and the contents of the Yacht Master course will be reviewed.
The price for the 48h navigation practicals is €480.
Additional Endorsements
Spanish regulations allow the professional use of the Yacht Master license, with authorizations for the transport of vessels, goods, and a maximum of 6 passengers.
To do so, it is necessary to obtain the professional certificate of Basic Training in Maritime Safety and request the attached authorization from the Maritime Captaincy.
